Mentoring Through Martial Arts

A family type environment

Safe place for youth to have fun, learn, and express themself.

The Youth Preventative program at C.U.T.S. is designed to help adolescents correct patterns of poor behavior that may have developed over a period of time due to any number of societal factors. The participants will complete a 8-week (PLAAY) intervention with martial arts before being tested in a Jiu Jitsu tournament.  C.U.T.S. use Jiu Jitsu tournaments to test what a child has learned through our program. It makes a child deal with emotions under pressure. It's one on one, so it forces accountability. The tournament also enforces handshaking which is great for measuring a child anger/emotions after a win or lost. There are many other reasons we use these tournaments such as patience in waiting your turn, following directions, ect. After tournament a evaluation will be done on the child performance, then a decision will be made to keep the child in (PLAAY) for another 8-weeks (some need more time then others), have that child sent to our license therapist, or offer the child a chance to join our year round mentoring class (Sat.) . Where they can continue to do martial arts, stay in contact with the coaches, and push themself with more tournaments.
